The First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Korniienko held a meeting with the delegation of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of NB 8.
The meeting was attended by the Committee Chair on Ukraine's Integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze; Chair of the Ukrainian Part of the Parliamentary Association Committee between Ukraine and the EU, Vadym Halaichuk; Member of the Permanent Delegation to PACE and the Committee Chair on Rules of Procedure, Parliamentary Ethics and Administration of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Serhii Kalchenko.
The visit of the delegation took place on the eve of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy's participation in the Nordic-Baltic Eight Leaders' Summit in Estonia, which currently holds the NB8 presidency.
Oleksandr Korniienko expressed
his gratitude to the diplomats for their visit to the Verkhovna Rada, noting
that Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania
are reliable partners of Ukraine.
"I want to express my gratitude for the support you provide to Ukraine, in particular, in the military sector. This is not only about humanitarian assistance, but also about your decision to allocate no less than 0.25% of your GDP to support our defence capabilities," Oleksandr Korniienko said.
He expressed his expectations that all negotiation clusters regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU will be officially opened during Cyprus's presidency of the European Council, and closed during Ireland's presidency.
At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the upcoming Ukrainian Recovery Conference (URC 2026), which will take place in Gdańsk on June 25-26.
