A meeting-discussion on further cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat and the European Advisory Group, headed by former Secretary General of the European Parliament Klaus Welle, was held at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
During the meeting, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat Viacheslav Shtuchnyi and Chair of the Academic Council of the Martens Centre with Klaus Welle discussed strengthening the democratic and institutional resilience of parliament under wartime conditions and Ukraine's progress towards full membership in the EU.
In particular, it provides for strategic planning within the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as ensuring a high-quality legislative process and analytical support for MPs of Ukraine.
“We highly appreciate the work carried out by the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to implement strategic reforms and strengthen the institutional capacity of parliament. Despite all the challenges of wartime, this work demonstrates a systematic approach and Ukraine’s serious commitment to further progress on its European path,” noted Klaus Welle.
Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viacheslav Shtuchnyi thanked the partners for supporting the parliament on Ukraine’s path towards membership in the European Union.
Special thanks were also expressed to partners from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Ukraine2EU programme, and the Ukrainian Parliamentary Institute for their support and for facilitating this cooperation.
As noted by Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viacheslav Shtuchnyi, the Secretariat remains committed to continuing this work.
