The leadership of Parliament, the leadership of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and members of the Parliament honoured the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred—those who sacrificed their lives for the dignity, freedom, and European future of Ukraine.
The participants of the event placed lamps on the Alley of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
«They stood up without any hesitation to defend the free and European future of Ukraine and all its people. For the sake of the generations of that time, for the sake of future generations. So that all Ukrainians could live in dignity under an independent flag. We bow our heads before them and their heroism. They were the first to demonstrate resistance to the imposed scenarios for the development of our state—they said a clear “yes” to democracy and freedom and a clear “no” to russia with its intentions,» mentioned Oleksandr Korniienko.
«We must be worthy of those who stand beside us,» these words by Bohdan Solchanyk, Hero of Ukraine, historian, lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University and poet, who was killed by a sniper’s bullet on 20 February 2014, sound particularly poignant today.
«The heroism and self-sacrifice of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred continue to inspire the defenders of Ukraine nowadays to continue the fight against the evil that has come to our land,» emphasised Olena Kondratiuk.
