A just and lasting peace is only possible on terms acceptable to the Ukrainian people — without loss of sovereignty or territory, and with full accountability on the part of the aggressor. According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, this was the position he heard during his meeting with Pedro Rollán, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain.

During his working visit to Spain, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine separately emphasised the issue of returning Ukrainian children who had been abducted by russia, noting that this was a war crime and a humanitarian priority for Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informed the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Spain about his visit and negotiations in Washington, in particular about the preparation of a draft law on tough sanctions against russia. He stressed that pressure on the aggressor's economy must be intensified and consistent. Ruslan Stefanchuk also noted that frozen russian assets should become a source of Ukraine's recovery, and that the reconstruction of the state should become a success story for all of Europe. At the same time, he stressed the importance of Spanish business participation in this process and thanked the Senate and the people of Spain for their solidarity and support for Ukraine.

Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude for Spain's comprehensive support for Ukraine — political, defence, humanitarian and financial — during a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

Ukraine wants peace — but fair and lasting peace, with reliable safeguards against new russian aggression. Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised this during a meeting with the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Marcos Perestrello, and Spanish representatives in the assembly. He reported on the results of meetings in the United States and noted expectations for further negotiations on sanctions next week on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, as well as progress towards the ratification of security guarantees between Ukraine and the United States.

russia does not want peace — it wants war. This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during a plenary session of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain.

Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised that Ukraine needs increased support — primarily in the areas of air defence, protection and restoration of critical infrastructure, as well as in the return of abducted Ukrainian children and the release of prisoners. He separately emphasised the unity of Europeans in the face of russian aggression and thanked Spain and the Spanish people for their solidarity, support for Ukraine and clear position on the European and Euro-Atlantic path.
