The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held a meeting with the Lord Chancellor, Secretary of State for Justice and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy. The conversation took place at a time when Europe's security directly depends on the ability of partners to act together, proactively and make long-term decisions.
The visit of David Lammy to Kyiv has a symbolic meaning, as it takes place on the first anniversary of the Centenary Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom, which laid the foundation for strategic and long-term cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the high level of political and public support for Ukraine in the United Kingdom was confirmed. This is an important signal of the consistency of the partner's position regardless of political cycles or internal discussions.
The parties discussed the further implementation of the century-long partnership, sanctions pressure on russia and the need to maintain and strengthen it, as well as coordination with international partners to bring the aggressor to justice for the crime of aggression. Particular attention was paid to interparliamentary cooperation and countering russian propaganda as a component of common security.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its consistent political, security and humanitarian support for Ukraine. He stressed that the commitments enshrined in the Agreement on annual military assistance until 2030 are an important factor in the stability and predictability of bilateral cooperation.
«Ukraine highly appreciates the leadership of the United Kingdom and is committed to further deepening cooperation to strengthen European security, protect international law and achieve a just and lasting peace,» emphasised the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
