Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol, on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform.

During the conversation, the parties discussed their shared vision of diplomatic efforts under the current circumstances. Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized that Ukraine remains open to dialogue, but not at any price. Peace must be just, grounded in the norms of international law, and must guarantee that russian aggression will never be repeated.

Special attention was devoted to the issues of Ukraine’s recovery and the prospects for Spanish businesses to participate in reconstruction projects. It was stressed that such initiatives represent an important investment both in Ukraine’s economy and in Europe’s security.

Ruslan Stefanchuk and Francina Armengol agreed that the current period is decisive and requires maximum unity of positions between the parliaments of both countries. The parties agreed to intensify cooperation and to arrange an exchange of visits in the near future.

During the meeting, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada presented the President of the Congress of Deputies with a state award — the Order of Princess Olga, Third Class. The award was granted by the Decree of the President of Ukraine for her significant personal contribution to the development of interparliamentary cooperation and for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
