The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk had a telephone conversation with the newly elected Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas.
Ruslan Stefanchuk congratulated his colleague on his election to the high office and emphasised Lithuania's special role in supporting Ukraine. "In the most challenging times for our country and people, Lithuania has become a true pillar of support - a symbol of unwavering solidarity and comprehensive support for Ukraine at all levels. I am sincerely grateful for this commitment," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.
The parties discussed the security situation, in particular the recent russian attack on Ukraine and Poland, which, according to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, is another reminder that only unity and decisive action can protect Europe from aggression.
Ruslan Stefanchuk wished Juozas Olekas success in his work as Chairman of the Seimas and expressed hope for further deepening of the interparliamentary dialogue and strengthening of cooperation to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace.
