First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko held a meeting with the Delegation of the NATO International Secretariat headed by NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Operations Burcu San.
In the Democracy Hall of the Ukrainian Parliament, the parties discussed the development of Ukraine-NATO cooperation amid the ongoing full-scale war.
The First Deputy Speaker emphasised that Ukraine highly values NATO’s support over the past three years. «For Ukraine to constantly feel and know that NATO is close and supportive. The outcome is always the same — strengthening our capabilities and reinforcing our strength,» - Oleksandr Korniienko said.
In particular, he mentioned the importance of the decisions made at the 2025 NATO Summit held in The Hague, as they clearly reaffirmed the Alliance’s unwavering support for Ukraine. «Importantly, the Summit declaration states that the security of our state contributes to the security of the Alliance,» noted the First Deputy Speaker.
Oleksandr Korniienko highlighted the NATO NSATU initiative as an important tool for ensuring coordinated support for Ukraine from partners and the effective utilization of the assistance provided.
«The command structure must play a key role in coordinating military assistance and ensuring the efficient use of resources, as well as integrating Ukraine’s needs with the logistical capabilities of partners. Recently, I personally visited the base and emphasized that this decision could significantly strengthen our defense capabilities,» said Oleksandr Korniienko.
He emphasised that continued close cooperation with the Alliance and support in reforming Ukraine’s defense sector are critically important for strengthening the security of Ukraine and all of Europe. «Understanding the scale of the challenges, he stressed the need for assistance both in the short and long term. We must move toward strengthening cooperation and continuing NATO’s support for Ukraine during this challenging period for all of Europe,» summarised the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
