Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met in Parliament with Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Johann Wadephul

First and foremost, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada thanked Germany for its large-scale defense, financial, and humanitarian support for Ukraine. He also highlighted the important decision of the German government to allocate substantial funds in the budget for military assistance in 2025 and the following years.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the need to strengthen sanctions against russia — particularly in the energy, metallurgy, and financial sectors — as well as the development of joint projects in the defense industry and the expansion of arms production in Ukraine.

The discussion also focused on Ukraine’s European integration, progress in the EU accession negotiations, and the importance of unblocking the negotiation process. Key security issues were addressed as well — in particular, strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and ensuring guarantees to prevent a recurrence of aggression.

Special attention was given to further deepening interparliamentary cooperation.

«I am particularly grateful for Germany's principled position in countering russian disinformation and its clear defence of historical truth,» emphasised Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed confidence that the partnership between Ukraine and Germany would remain strong and hold strategic significance for the whole of Europe.
