As part of his participation in the NATO Parliamentary Summit, Ruslan Stefanchuk addressed the representatives of the parliaments of the Alliance's member states with a clear position: Ukraine must be in NATO. He stressed that the Ukrainian people have been resisting russian aggression for more than a decade, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are the most experienced army in Europe, which is actually already operating in accordance with NATO standards, defending the eastern flank of the Alliance.

«NATO must remain as it was designed: a strong alliance of free countries that is not afraid of dictators and does not allow the kremlin to draw red lines,» said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament gave his colleagues from other countries five reasons why Ukraine should become a member of NATO: to protect itself and not allow russia to dictate who can integrate where; to strengthen the Alliance itself; because the path to NATO is the path of reforms; because 86% of Ukrainians support membership; because it is a signal that aggression does not work, democracies are stronger than dictatorships.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked every parliament that supports Ukraine. «Thank you for your weapons, decisions, and solidarity,» he said.

During the visit, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also held a bilateral meeting with the Vice-Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden, Kerstin Lundgren. Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Sweden for its continued support of Ukraine - military, humanitarian and political. He also noted the visits of Swedish colleagues to Bucha and Kyiv as a powerful signal of solidarity.

«Together, we are strengthening our diplomatic position in the struggle for justice and the European future of Ukraine,» the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concluded.
