Within the official visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Minister of Defence, Mobility and Public Works, Gender Equality and Diversity of Luxembourg, Yuriko Backes.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament informed about the tragic consequences of yet another overnight attack by russia: over 30 missiles and more than 400 drones were fired at Ukrainian civilian cities. As a result of the strikes - 15 people are dead, more than 100 - injured. Kyiv, Odesa, and other regions of Ukraine suffered destruction.

«This is not a war for territories, this is outright terrorism against civilian people. The world must respond to it firmly and systematically,» emphasised Ruslan Stefanchuk.

At the centre of the discussion were key areas of cooperation: support for the defence sector, including the supply of ammunition, air defence systems, and the training of Ukrainian military personnel; deepening strategic engagement on Ukraine’s accession to NATO; the reconstruction of housing, infrastructure, and social facilities; as well as the return of deported Ukrainian children.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked for consistent support of Ukraine, humanitarian initiatives of Luxembourg and principled position within the International coalition on returning Ukrainian children.

In turn, Yuriko Backes stated: «The security of Ukraine is the security of all of Europe,» emphasizing Luxembourg’s continued readiness to support the Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and independence.
