On May 11, 2025 the First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko took part in the final presentation on draft laws developed by participants of Lawmaker's school 3.0 - a programme aimed at explaining how legislative initiatives are promoted and created.
Teams were developing the offers in such ways as: postwar elections, the education transformation, the policy of veterans and youth, tax's reform.
«These are serious and actual topics of our country. This emphasizes the fact that youth is engaged in the life of the country and is ready to actively take part in changes. We discussed their draft laws in detail and gave a constructive feedback», - Oleksandr Korniienko said
During the presentation an air alert went off due to a ballistic missile threat. However, according to the First Deputy Speaker, that didn't change the event's plan - participants continued to discuss Parliamentary work in the shelter, in particular in the context of full-scale invasion.
The voting for presented draft laws was the final stage of the programme. By and large, it included a number of sessions dedicated to developing skills in lawmaking and the political process. Participants got acquainted with the aims of School, were discussing policy's influence on everyday life and the perspectives of the postwar landscape. In particular they examined electoral systems, election strategies and the work of political teams.
Youth learned how to impact the legislative process, develop draft laws, make an anti corruption expertise and interact with voters. The programme foresaw practical classes on idea pitching, advocacy and political communications. The participants presented their work to the jury, discussed voting strategies and the results of the training.
Oleksandr Korniienko expressed his gratitude and interest in the country's functioning, mentioned that in the conditions of modern trends among youth the attention to government processes is essential. According to him, a lot of discussed topics within the School are extremely relevant. The First Deputy Speaker expressed hope that some of the participants' ideas could be taken into account when drafting real laws.
He outlined that in recent years Ukraine has been seriously institutionalising and creating a legislative framework for reforms, in particular in the context of preparing for accession to the European Union. According to Oleksandr Korniienko, it is important to keep improving the system and work on the implementation of European standards. In this context, he emphasized that in a few years, the attitude towards lawmakers will change for the better. Thus, Oleksandr Korniienko called on young people to prepare for an active participation in politics, take the responsibility on themselves for the future of our country and build Ukraine the way they want it to be.
«This is really cool that young people are demonstrating their interest in the political area, is starting to take their first steps. Somebody is even working and getting practical experience. Thanks to all of the participants, colleagues and the organisers of such an important programme! I am sure that we will definitely see someone in the format of working interaction», - Oleksandr Korniienko summed up.
