Oleksandr Kornienko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, conducted a working visit to the Rivne region. The focus of the visit was placed on the timber and energy sectors.

In the course of the visit, a meeting was held with business representatives with the participation of central executive authorities, regional military administrations and the State Environmental Inspectorate. The participants discussed problematic issues of the forestry, timber and furniture industries in the format of the Temporary Special Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

«We must work together, in particular in terms of adapting to European directives. We need to unite to achieve conditions that will promote market development and stability. We are already studying the experience of the EU countries to create the best model for Ukraine,» Oleksandr Kornienko said.

Oleksandr Kornienko also highlighted the importance of the communication component: «Society needs to understand what is happening in this sector, why certain decisions are made, and what results are expected. This should be explained not only by the government, but also by business and producers.»

During his visit, Oleksandr Kornienko visited the timber processing company «Kronospan», got acquainted with its operations and had a conversation with its employees.

Energy related issues attracted special attention. A meeting was held with heat supply companies and heads of local communities to discuss the end of the 2024-2025 heating season and preparations for the next one. The parties also discussed the introduction of cogeneration installations and problematic aspects of the upcoming heating season.

«Energy remains one of the key topics at the national level. The enemy does not stop attacking energy facilities. We continue to work on their protection and restoration together with our partners,» the First Deputy Chairman addressed.
