First of all, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to Japan for its political, economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine. “I am pleased to welcome the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Nakagome to the Ukrainian Parliament. Japan is a reliable partner of Ukraine, so I look forward to further strengthening cooperation between our countries,” he said. The meeting focused on inter-parliamentary cooperation, implementation of the President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s Peace Formula, strengthening sanctions pressure on russia and the prospects of using the frozen assets of the aggressor country to restore Ukraine.
The parties also discussed the importance of further expanding the defence partnership. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed special gratitude for Japan’s contribution to demining, support for the energy sector and humanitarian aid.
At the end of the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his belief that cooperation between Ukraine and Japan would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region and the world.
