After almost three years of a full-scale invasion, many transformations and new values have occurred in Ukraine.
The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk emphasized it during the Law and Justice Forum.
"This is the value of human life. The value of human capital. The value of a democratic system and the subjectivity of state institutions. The value of the unity of society around joining the European Union," she underlined.
According to the Vice-Speaker, the newly formed values also come with challenges. In particular, one of the challenges for the state in joining the EU during the war is not to lose national interests and regain all economic positions that will strengthen Ukraine.
"It is for the sake of joining the EU that the Verkhovna Rada adapts Ukrainian legislation to European legislation, adopting more and more new laws. We understand that the parliament is "on an extension" — because of the war, we are significantly overstaying our term of office. Therefore, devoting this time to something useful, joining the EU - this is our undoubted mission. The challenge is that all the changes we adopt require clarification for society," Olena Kondratiuk highlighted.
She pointed out that legal, banking or anti-corruption systems are not joining the European Union separately.
"The entire Ukrainian society is joining the EU, and people need to know what is happening in the accession negotiations, what exactly we are accepting within the framework of European integration, what for and why it will be better. Therefore, we need a broad communication campaign," stated the Vice-Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.
The Law and Justice Forum occurred through the initiative of the Office of Olga Stefanishyna, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Legal Aid Coordination Center, and with the support of the United Nations Development Program within the framework of the projects of the Network UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict and the flagship partnership of the UNDP and the EU4Recovery - Empowering Communities in Ukraine (EU).
