The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk took part in a meeting of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, where Alla Oliinyk took the oath of office. Alla Oliinyk was appointed to the position by the XX Regular Congress of Judges of Ukraine, and she is the second judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to be appointed under the new and unprecedentedly open rules of competitive selection with the participation of the Advisory Group of Experts.
This Group includes not only representatives of various branches of government in Ukraine, but also experts delegated at the initiative of the Venice Commission and international organisations that provide assistance to Ukraine in the areas of rule of law, human rights protection, and prevention and counteraction to corruption.
"Today we have another opportunity to congratulate the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the addition of a new judge. I am convinced that strengthening the composition of the CCU will only strengthen the institutional capacity and authority of the Court," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed.
At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted, a number of positions in the CCU remain vacant, which allows the best candidates to join the competitive selection process and continue to work on protecting the fundamental principles and values enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.
