The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 Summit of the Speakers of the Parliaments, which is taking place from 05 to 07 September in Verona, Italy. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine congratulated Lindsey Hoyle on his re-election and expressed gratitude to the UK for its comprehensive assistance to Ukraine. He stressed that it is very important for our country that the UK's position on supporting Ukraine remains unchanged.
A separate topic of the meeting was the importance of uninterrupted arms supply chains and the types of weapons needed to strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities. Ruslan Stefanchuk highlighted the need for air defence systems, long-range missiles, additional F-16s, artillery systems and ammunition, and stressed the need for Ukraine to be granted permission to strike military targets in russia with allied weapons.
The parties paid special attention to the issue of rehabilitation and treatment of Ukrainian servicemen.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the United Kingdom for its consistent support of sanctions against russia and discussed with his counterpart the problem of russia's circumvention of the imposed restrictions.
