First of all, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic Lorenzo Fontana for the invitation to participate in the meeting of the Heads of Parliaments of the Group of Seven member states (05-07 September, Verona, Italy). “This once again emphasises the high level of interparliamentary cooperation,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

He stressed that our country highly appreciates the fact that support for Ukraine and international law is one of the priorities of the Italian presidency of the Group of Seven.

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament also thanked the G7 countries for their assistance in the military, financial and economic spheres.

During the meeting, the speakers of the Ukrainian and Italian Parliaments discussed the situation at the frontline and the consequences of the daily attacks of the aggressor state on Ukrainian cities. “russia deliberately aims its missiles at destroying critical infrastructure, primarily the energy system of Ukraine,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

In view of this, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed, further military support is very important. Among the urgent needs of Ukraine, he mentioned the need for additional air defence systems, missiles, artillery and ammunition.

At the same time, the head of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that it is very important to lift all restrictions and allow Ukraine to strike at russian military targets using weapons from partners. “I hope for your support and urge you to contribute to this decision in every way possible,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and Italy, which has recently demonstrated high dynamics of development.
