On 29 August 2024, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko took part in a solemn session of the teaching staff of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.
In his speech to the academic audience, Oleksandr Korniienko stressed that the strong development of the military-tech sector will contribute to Ukraine's victory over russian military aggression. “In today's world, in today's conditions, it is possible to win a war and resist a strong enemy only in cooperation with science, high-tech industries, high-tech economy, together with military-tech. And over the past 2.5 years, much has been done in this direction,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, mentioning Ukraine's recent use of the latest Palianytsia drone missile and the army's achievements in the field of electronic warfare.
According to him, Ukraine has a great potential for development in the field of military technology. And in this context, it is necessary to support the interest of society, in particular young people, in technical and engineering specialities.
The First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament also focused on other drivers of Ukraine's economic development. This includes the post-war reconstruction of the state. Today, he said, there is a unique opportunity to modernise Ukraine's industrial complex in line with global technological trends. “Modern production facilities – green metallurgy, state-of-the-art chemical production, and processing facilities – should be created in place of the old metallurgical and chemical plants,” said Oleksandr Korniienko. “We have to turn from an agrarian and raw material country into one of the world's top-quality agricultural suppliers. This can be not only food safety products, but also energy security products. We talk a lot about this with our partners.”
Particular attention was paid to the process of Ukraine's European integration, as well as the interest of Western partners in the intellectual and scientific resources of our country. “We have to become contributors to the European Union. There is a great interest of our partners in our educational and technical capacities,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament stressed.
During the meeting of the solemn session, Oleksandr Korniienko awarded the teaching staff of Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with Diplomas, Certificates and Gratitude of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their significant contribution to the development of education and science, high production and scientific achievements, conscientious work and professional achievements, fruitful scientific, scientific-pedagogical and pedagogical activities, and success in teaching and upbringing of the younger generation. “I sincerely congratulate Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute on the upcoming 126th anniversary, the opening of the new academic year, and the renewal of the management team, which, in my opinion, has ambitious plans and the right vision of development,’ said Oleksandr Korniienko.
