The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko took part in an international meeting: “Global Ukrainians in Assistance to Ukraine”.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Ukraine Elena Leticia Teresa Mikusinski, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets and President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hennadii Chyzhykov were also invited as honoured guests.
The event was attended by Ukrainians from more than 30 countries: representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, migrants and citizens seeking temporary asylum abroad. It was noted that almost 8.2 million Ukrainians have left Ukraine since the beginning of russia's large-scale military invasion of our country, saving their own lives and the lives of their children. Away from their homes, most Ukrainians have found the strength to work and help Ukraine resist russian aggression.
“We talked about how a large Ukrainian family working in many countries can help Ukraine today,” said Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, “It is very important that our vision of a just peace is shared around the world. This includes the implementation and promotion of the President Zelenskyi's Peace Formula in the international arena.”
During his speech, Oleksandr Korniienko stressed that today the entire diplomatic corps is working hard to convey the truth about Ukraine's heroic struggle, not only to European countries, but also to countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. “There are many issues to be discussed, including the return of prisoners of war and Ukrainian children, various types of assistance and support, and the rehabilitation of our military. And today is the time when Ukrainians in all parts of the world should unite their efforts for the sake of a common result and a victory so desirable for all,” said Oleksandr Korniienko.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that as the world is changing dynamically, Ukraine has to constantly adjust its strategies for the development of Ukraine's international policy. “Therefore, we have to adjust actions on how Ukrainians in the world can help in this process, as well as how we, as a state, can support Ukrainians abroad,” he added.
Oleksandr Korniienko expressed his sincere gratitude to each and every Ukrainian in the world for the tremendous work already done in the interests of our country. “I believe that today's meeting has helped us to understand the pressing issues in more detail and outline our priorities for the near future,” he added.
