In the framework of the Summit of NATO Parliament Speakers, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held separate bilateral meetings with the Speaker of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada, Greg Ferguson, the Speaker of the Folketing of the Kingdom of Denmark, Søren Gade, and the Speaker of the Croatian Sabor, Gordan Jandroković.
First of all, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his deep gratitude to each colleague for the solidarity with Ukraine and the unwavering military, humanitarian and financial assistance provided by these countries to Ukraine. He also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation on international platforms to consolidate support for Ukraine.
During his meeting with the Speaker of the Croatian National Assembly, Gordan Jandroković, Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasised the fruitful parliamentary cooperation and discussed with his colleague the ways of its further development. "I am especially grateful to a true friend of Ukraine, my colleague Gordan Jandroković, for his consistent support of Ukraine on international platforms. We deeply appreciate it," said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
The security situation in Ukraine, the consequences of russian aggression, and the destruction of critical infrastructure and civilian facilities were a particular topic of the meeting. In particular, Ruslan Stefanchuk spoke about the missile attack on the children's hospital on 8 July and called on his counterpart to continue supporting Ukraine, especially in the defence sector.
At the end of the meeting, the speakers discussed the reconstruction of Ukraine and the importance of implementing the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine spoke with the Speaker of the Folketing of the Kingdom of Denmark, Søren Gade, about the patronage of the Danish Parliament over the restoration of civilian infrastructure destroyed by russian aggression in Ukraine. "It could be a school, a kindergarten or a hospital, or any other civilian facility," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
He also outlined the urgent defence needs in view of the constant terror of russian criminals and invited the Speaker of the Folketing to visit Ukraine and personally see the devastating consequences of russian aggression against Ukraine.
During a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Commons Greg Fergus, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that Ukraine has always felt strong political support from Canada. "This is extremely important for us and we are sincerely grateful for it. We especially appreciate Canada's readiness to continue military and financial assistance as long as necessary – until Ukraine's victory," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.
The speakers also discussed strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and joint work on international platforms.
