On the sidelines of the NATO Parliamentary Speakers' Summit, which is taking place in Washington, DC, on 9 July, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Mike Johnson.

First of all, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked Mike Johnson for the support of Ukraine by the United States and the American people in the difficult times of struggle for freedom and independence. "We highly appreciate the consistent and powerful bipartisan and bicameral support of our American partners," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

He also informed his American counterpart about the terrible consequences of yesterday's shelling of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital and other civilian objects in Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro by the russian aggressor.

During the meeting, the speakers discussed a number of topical issues on the Ukrainian-American agenda, focusing on deepening cooperation on further assistance to Ukraine.

"Ukraine counts on the leadership of both the Congress in particular and the United States in general in making important decisions in favour of the victory of democracy and freedom over aggression and dictatorship," said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the activities of the parliamentary dimension of the Crimean Platform and the need for its further development.
