"We understand the importance of adhering to democratic principles, so the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is interested in developing parliamentary education in Ukraine. The Democracy Workshop will be a new format for the work of the Educational Centre of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which has been effectively working in the area of civic education of young people since 2019," said Viacheslav Shtuchnyi, the Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The Democracy Workshop is a successful model for implementing civic parliamentary education developed in 2007 by the Austrian Parliament. The project involves holding workshops to spread knowledge about democracy and parliamentarism among children and young people. So far, the project has been implemented by the parliaments of Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania, and cooperation with Georgia, North Macedonia and Slovakia has begun.
