On 1-3 July, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko, heading a parliamentary delegation, is visiting the French Republic to participate in the third High-Level Dialogue "Good Democratic Governance in Ukraine: Achievements, Challenges and the Way Forward in the Post-War Period".
The First Vice-Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko began his visit with a meeting with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Theodoros Rousopoulos.
First of all, Oleksandr Korniienko expressed gratitude for the Council of Europe's continued support for Ukraine, in particular, for the Resilience, Recovery and Rebuilding Action Plan.
At the same time, he drew attention to the need to focus joint efforts on such issues as the return of forcibly deported Ukrainian children and the release of prisoners of war — military and civilian.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian parliamentary delegates emphasised the activity of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to PACE and the constant presence of issues related to Ukraine on the agenda, which is an important signal of work for justice.
In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko provided more detailed information about the security situation in Ukraine and the consequences of russian shelling of our country's energy infrastructure.
He also thanked the President of the PACE for the process launched by him on Ukrainian prisoners of war and expressed hope for positive decisions on this issue.
In conclusion, he expressed confidence that unity and decisive action are the key to sustainable peace and security not only within our country, but also throughout Europe. The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko also invited PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos to pay a working visit to Ukraine.
