The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held a working meeting with William Thompson, the Head of the Eurasia Division of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The First Vice-Speaker stressed that strengthening cooperation with the Organisation is one of Ukraine's priorities for transforming our economy and facilitating its integration into international markets.
He also informed that a consistent policy is being pursued to implement international standards in various areas of life, in line with OECD recommendations.
In particular, during the meeting, Oleksandr Korniienko drew attention to the work of the Parliament of Ukraine – the recently adopted decisions and the European integration agenda. In particular, he elaborated on the decision adopted today to appoint Serhii Riznyk as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
“The decision to open the OECD Office in Ukraine and its effective work is a sign of confidence in Ukraine's independent and democratic future. We will be glad to meet and welcome the new head of the Office in Kyiv,” the First Vice-Speaker said in conclusion.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Ukrainian Parliament: Anastasiia Radina, the Head of the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy; Yaroslav Zhelezniak, the First Deputy Head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy; Oleksii Movchan, the Deputy Head of the Committee on Economic Development; Vitalii Bezhin, the Head of the Subcommittee on Administrative and Territorial Structure and Local Self-Government of the Committee on State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning; and Volodymyr Tsabal, the Secretary of the Committee on Budget.
