During her official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk held a working meeting with the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev.
According to Olena Kondratiuk, this is the second meeting in recent years.
‘Each time, it is a very substantive conversation about how Azerbaijan and the Ministry can help Ukraine,’ said the Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.
She said that last year the parties had developed a plan to organise holidays in Azerbaijan for children of Ukrainian servicemen, which was implemented. The meeting agreed to extend this programme to 2024. At Olena Kondratiuk's request, Azerbaijan will host two groups of Ukrainian children — 60 people in total. The possibility of accepting an additional group is being considered.
‘There are no other people's children! Azerbaijan, which has been fighting for its territorial integrity for 30 years and is now facing a significant challenge in reintegrating the de-occupied territories, knows this well and is very empathetic to Ukrainians,’ the Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament concluded.
