The main topics raised during the speech of the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko were the latest enemy attacks, the needs of Ukraine on the battlefield and the importance of speeding up decision-making.

“Over the past two days, our cities and Ukrainians have been suffering from heavy enemy attacks, in particular, last night missiles were also aimed at energy facilities,” the First Deputy Speaker said.

Oleksandr Korniienko stressed that this shows that putin is absolutely relentless: “As the leader of a terrorist state, he sees his main goal as continuing the war. In addition to capturing territories, his desire is to capture people's thinking and control it through aggression, force and any authoritarian methods.”

“If Ukraine does not win, the next question is where the russian 'president' will go next and when,” stressed the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, adding that this could be a very serious issue and problem for NATO – what the Alliance will do and how quickly it will be able to respond to such actions.

During his speech, Oleksandr Korniienko clearly outlined Ukraine's needs, in particular, for air defence systems, ammunition, drones, artillery and electronic warfare systems.

“But, in addition to military aid, we also need quick decision-making. Every day when we lack ammunition, we lose the lives of our soldiers. The more ammunition we have, the more lives we will save,” he said.

At the same time, the First Vice Speaker stressed that Ukraine, as a candidate for membership in the European Union, is open to cooperation and alliances, particularly in the area of military technology: “We have something to share, thanks to our experience on the battlefield.”

“As for membership in the European Union and NATO, society demonstrates a high level of desire to join and sees the future together with the democratic world,” stressed Oleksandr Korniienko, adding that Ukraine expects political decisions and the opportunity to continue moving along these tracks.

“The border with russia is a lifelong challenge for us. But we will overcome it. Together with the world, which also strives for security, justice and achievement of our common victory,” said Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in conclusion.

For reference. On 22-23 March, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko is on a working visit to the Republic of Lithuania.

The parliamentary delegation also includes Oleksandr Merezhko, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
