During the meeting with Leena Maria Linnus, the Director for Infrastructure and Logistics of the European Parliament, the parties paid attention to strengthening the institutional capacity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in accordance with modern international standards, taking into account the experience of the European Parliament. The partners also discussed plans to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Research Service, expert and archival units.
The relevant points of cooperation were approved in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola the day before.
During the meeting, the Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Viacheslav Shtuchnyi, got acquainted with the experience of the European Parliament's continuous support in Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg, as well as the work of information offices in the Member States, etc.
The parties placed special emphasis on studying the experience of continuous functioning under martial law of the Ukrainian Parliament and taking into account its experience in the activities of the European and national parliaments.
The Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also met with Didier Klethi, the Director for Finance of the European Parliament. The parties discussed the issues of budget planning and use, control over its implementation, the procedure for compensation payments, and agreed to maintain constant communication in order to implement best practices.
