The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniienko took part in the Sophia of Kyiv State-building Forum organised by the Ukrainian Leadership Academy.

First of all, Oleksandr Korniienko noted that he has his own symbolic history with the Ukrainian Leadership Academy. "This was my last major social project, which consisted of lectures on coaching skills for students before the next stage of life – politics. And it was the energy of the Academy that inspired me in many ways," he said.

During his speech, the First Vice Speaker focused on a number of important issues, including war and victory, the European integration path and inter-parliamentary diplomacy.

At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko shared his experience of working with non-Western countries. "It is important for us to increase the amount of support in international arenas, including the UN General Assembly," he stressed, adding that this is part of a just victory and the aggressor's responsibility for all its crimes on the territory of an independent state.

In addition, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the need to renew diplomatic personnel. "In general, this is a promising story – the country needs young people who will work in the civil service not only within the country but also in the international space, in particular, in the European Union," he said.

"Today, young people can do a lot to win – from their social networks to development, education and new skills. It is now more important than ever that the younger generation is involved in nation-building in a broad sense," said Oleksandr Korniienko.

In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the younger generation is now at a good stage, where "it is important to become who they are in order to be who they want to be": "All of you are in a unique environment of opportunities. Use them and act! Your country needs you."

For reference. The Ukrainian Leadership Academy is a personal and social development programme, the main element of which is a 10-month formative programme for high school graduates based on a combination of physical, emotional and intellectual development. The Academy was founded in 2015 and currently has 1260 graduates.
