The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine Jaakko Lehtovirta.
“Finland’s support is important for us – political, financial and humanitarian! The total amount of assistance provided – by the Government, the private sector, municipalities, and citizens – is more than EUR 3.5 billion,” said Olena Kondratiuk.
She also stressed that the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers is particularly valuable: “Currently, 17 of our guys are undergoing treatment in Finland.” The Vice-Speaker appealed to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine to continue this programme in the future.
“Ukraine highly appreciates the active efforts of the President of Finland Sauli Niinisto and the Government in supporting Ukraine in its accession to the European Union and in establishing the EU’s rapid assistance in transporting Ukrainian grain,” stressed Olena Kondratiuk.
In addition, she noted that Finland’s experience and role model in joining NATO is precious for Ukraine: “It is important for us to adopt these successes at the parliamentary level.”
Finally, the Vice-Speaker congratulated the newly elected Parliament of Finland led by Speaker Jussi Halla-aho and focused on possible cooperation on the tasks of parliamentary diplomacy to convey the truth about the crimes of the russian federation – the forced removal, abduction, displacement and deportation of Ukrainian children.
