First of all, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Croatia, as a great friend of Ukraine, for the financial, humanitarian and defence assistance that our country has been receiving since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion.
“Today’s meeting is a continuation of the high level of political dialogue that exists between our countries. This means that Croatia’s position is extremely strong and unwavering. We appreciate it very much and are sincerely grateful to each of you,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament said in his opening remarks.
During the meeting, the interlocutors focused on issues important for further cooperation between the two countries and for Ukraine’s victory in the unprovoked war.
In particular, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that it is extremely important for Ukraine to continue military support, as “an increase in military assistance is an urgent need for Ukraine to defeat the russian aggressor”.
They also discussed the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked Croatia for supporting the initiative and for its willingness to join the implementation of the Formula.
The participants of the meeting also touched upon the issues of Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Government of Croatia for supporting Ukraine on its path to NATO and EU membership and noted that “Croatia’s invaluable experience will enable us to move even faster” in these areas.
Finally, the parties touched upon the topic of rebuilding Ukraine. The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that Croatia’s unique experience in dealing with the consequences of war on its own territory will be invaluable for the future reconstruction of Ukraine and welcomed Croatia’s readiness to join the process of restoring and demining our territories.
The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlic Radman, in turn, conveyed to his Ukrainian counterpart the sincere greetings of his colleagues from the Government and Parliament of Croatia and, especially, “all the extraordinary warmth of the Croatian people”.
Gordan Grlic Radman also expressed his country’s unequivocal support for the President Zelenskyi’s Peace Formula, all Ukraine’s initiatives aimed at bringing the aggressor to justice for its crimes, and Ukraine’s early accession to the EU and NATO.
“We know that Ukraine will soon be free, because the whole world supports it, its struggle for freedom and the recognition of its peaceful integration!” Gordan Grlic Radman emphasised during the meeting.
