The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko and MPs-members of the parliamentary delegations to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) met with African journalists.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss important and urgent issues related to the situation in Ukraine, to exchange views on the consequences of the war for our country and the whole world.

In particular, according to the First Vice-Speaker, the interlocutors discussed the importance of countering russian propaganda.

“Our position is unchanged – the world must know the truth. Everyone guilty of crimes on Ukrainian soil must be held accountable. We told our colleagues about the consequences of russia’s full-scale invasion for us – destroyed cities, murders, missile attacks, terror of civilians... And we discussed the consequences of the war for the whole world, in particular, problems with food prices and access to them,” Oleksandr Korniienko stressed.

The Ukrainian parliamentarians stressed that Ukraine seeks security both on its territory and in the world.

“To do this, we must stop the aggressor and demonstrate that every evil will be punished. So that no one would ever want to repeat the crimes and commit new ones,” Oleksandr Korniienko said during the conversation.

In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine underlined the importance and productivity of such meetings and stressed that such dialogues are “another step towards effective communication and understanding between our countries”.

The event was also attended by members of the parliamentary delegations to the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe – Oleksandr Merezhko, Mariia Mezentseva, Artur Gerasymov, and Aliona Shkrum.
