The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a working meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine informed the Prime Minister about the blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by the russian federation, which caused a man-made disaster not only in Ukraine but also around the world.

"Today, in addition to the hardships of war, Ukraine is facing the hardships of the crime of ecocide committed by the russians against Ukraine," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

In addition, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked for the decision to provide a new military assistance package for Ukraine worth 500 million Canadian dollars.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support of Ukrainian citizens who are currently in Canada: "This is a large number of people who have found refuge from a terrible war. Citizens are the highest value for Ukraine".

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that Ukraine needs Canada's support on its way to joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

"We are aware that becoming a member of NATO in times of war is a very difficult issue, but we want to receive a NATO Navigator at the Summit in Vilnius — the way, conditions and time of our accession," he said.

Finally, the parties touched upon the issue of rebuilding Ukraine. "It is very important for us that the story of Ukraine's recovery and revival becomes a success story for the entire civilized world," said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calling on Canada to join in rebuilding Ukraine.
