“Representatives of local self-government are in russian captivity – they are ‘guilty’ only of actively defending Ukraine,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko during a meeting with the Friendship Group of the Senate of the French Republic.
He called on representatives of local self-government of Ukraine to join the process of releasing Ukrainians from russian captivity.
In addition, during the meeting, the First Vice-Speaker informed his colleagues about Ukraine’s efforts to maintain growth and economic recovery today, in particular, about the draft law on insurance of investments in Ukraine against military risks.
The parties also touched upon a number of international issues and the joint struggle for truth and against russian propaganda in the Global South.
They discussed the decentralisation reform and Ukraine’s achievements in this area.
“A separate topic of our communication is the circumvention of sanctions and the cessation of assistance from some countries to the aggressor,” Oleksandr Korniienko said, expressing gratitude to the French Senate for its strong position in support of truth and justice.
