Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the discussion “Political Finance Rules and Liability for Their Violation: Continuing the Reform to Ensure Transparency and Accountability”.
“We have to restore the high standards of reporting in the field of party financing and make adjustments to the aspects that have been of concern to the parties themselves and the society,” Oleksandr Korniienko said during the event.
The First Vice-Speaker noted that the relevant process is linked to Ukraine’s European integration and approximation to European standards.
“To fulfil these tasks, we need to develop party infrastructure and systems,” Oleksandr Korniienko stressed, adding that this would allow the policy to become more qualitative and focused on responsibility, accountability and other criteria of good governance for their implementation in Ukraine.
For reference. The event was organised by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Building, Local Governance, Regional and Urban Development with the assistance and support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the All-Ukrainian Civil Network OPORA.
