The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk met with the Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
Olena Kondratiuk thanked Ms. Speaker for the invitation to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan and take part in the celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev.
“It is very important to maintain a high level of partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, our parliaments and peoples, who have much in common.
First and foremost, it is a strong and long-standing mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity between our states,” the Vice Speaker stressed during the meeting.
The main topic of the conversation was the protection of the rights and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children.
On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk asked the Chairman of the Milli Majlis to adopt a statement in the Azerbaijani Parliament supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and condemning the massive and illegal deportation of Ukrainian children by the russian federation.
The parties also discussed the organisation of rehabilitation programmes for wounded soldiers and veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Azerbaijan and the admission of new groups of Ukrainian children affected by the war.
“With gratitude for the support already provided, we hope that friendly Azerbaijan will continue to provide Ukraine with comprehensive humanitarian assistance. It is very valuable and necessary for us in these difficult times,” said the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
