This was emphasised by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko during a meeting with a delegation of the Swedish Riksdag Committee on Foreign Affairs headed by the Chairman Aron Emilsson.

The First Vice-Speaker informed his colleagues about the latest steps of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the path to European integration, as well as about Ukraine’s North Atlantic aspirations.

“We are counting on the strong support of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU to make a historic decision to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union,” Oleksandr Korniienko stressed.

In conclusion, he noted that Ukraine and Sweden have a lot in common – the countries are united in their desire for justice and global security, which begins with Ukraine.
