This was stated by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko during the World Parliamentary Congress “The Future of the World” at the plenary session “Geostrategic Reconstruction of the World”.
“It is in Ukraine that the fate of Europe and the entire democratic world is being decided,” the First Vice Speaker said. He emphasized that the russian federation continues to commit crimes and terrorize civilians: “We defend and protect our independence.”
At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized that Ukraine’s victory, which will ensure the security of the European continent, requires concrete actions.
First, it is the protection of the Ukrainian sky – a global need to provide Ukraine with modern aircraft, which will be part of the future security. The First Vice Speaker noted that Ukraine must protect itself from missile attacks by the russian federation in the future, as this terror is still ongoing.
Secondly, it is the issue of implementing reforms regarding the United Nations: “It is impossible for the most dangerous country to preside over the Security Council, as we have seen.”
Thirdly, it is the creation of an international military tribunal to hold the terrorist state and each of its criminals accountable. “One of the most important things is to make russia answer, which is why we need a new mechanism that would give a fair response to all the horrors committed by russia in Ukraine and which it continues to commit right now,” emphasized the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine.
According to Oleksandr Korniienko, another important issue is Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO, which will complete the reformatting of the global security architecture: “We are grateful for the support of Ukraine’s European integration path, and at the same time we expect the same assistance in the NATO issue.”
In conclusion, Oleksandr Korniienko expressed gratitude to the partners for the support and assistance they have already provided and will continue to provide in the future.
