In the conversation, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that Ukraine highly appreciates the unwavering support of Canada for Ukraines Euro-Atlantic integration and the promotion of consensus in support of our application to join NATO in the near future.

He also informed that on April 10, 2023, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted the Appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the NATO Parliamentary Assembly on Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Therefore, the Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine called on the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada to consider adopting a resolution in support of Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance before the NATO Summit in Vilnius.

“We clearly realize that Ukraine can become a NATO member only after the end of this war. And at the NATO Summit in Vilnius, we would like to hear clear signals that Ukraine will be a member of the Alliance. It is important for us to understand the logic of our path and the timeframe of this process,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament noted.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked for the assistance provided by Canada to Ukraine and Ukrainians, in particular, he emphasized that Ukraine appreciates Canada’s decision to provide lethal weapons and heavy weapons, financial and humanitarian assistance; launching a program of shelter for Ukrainians who have temporarily arrived in Canada; introducing effective sanctions against the aggressor, as well as creating the preconditions for the confiscation of russian assets in Canada; joining the reconstruction of Ukraine, which, according to Ruslan Stefanchuk, “will be another historic and ambitious project that will unite not only our countries and peoples, but also business.”

He also invited his colleague to take part in the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform, which will be held in October in Prague.

The Speaker of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Canada Anthony Rota, for his part, noted that Canada is looking forward to the moment when the russian military leave the battlefield, end the war and return to russia.  He also assured that the world will not get used to this war, but will do everything to end it as soon as possible and help Ukraine win.
