This was emphasised by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko during the annual International Scientific and Practical Conference “Globalisation Challenges: Governance of the Future” of the Educational and Research Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The First Vice-Speaker noted that modern globalisation challenges are becoming increasingly significant for Ukraine as well: “In addition to the obvious security challenge that we are overcoming together with our partners, we have to think about a wide range of challenges from informatisation and artificial intelligence to climate change.” He added that an effective system of public governance will help us to search for and find answers to the complex issues of our time.

At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko stressed that as an EU candidate country, Ukraine should improve the competencies of its employees. In particular, it is necessary to modernise the processes of providing services to citizens, reform structures and rethink approaches, as well as renew personnel and improve the professional training of citizens.

“Together with international partners, we are looking for opportunities to continue the public administration reform even in wartime. This reform, more than any other, will improve the lives of Ukrainians in their interaction with the state,” said Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.
