The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, together with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic Marketa Pekarova Adamova and the Speaker of the Croatian Sabor Gordan Jandrokovic, held a meeting on the preparation of the upcoming Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform.
The event was held within the framework of the Conference of the Presidents of the EU Parliaments in Prague, where the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform is also scheduled to be held in October.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that this event is an important dimension of the parliamentary track and inter-parliamentary relations, in particular, for the restoration of Ukraine’s borders within the 1991 borders.
“I would like to invite you, all the speakers, to continue the work of the Crimean Platform Parliamentary Summit. The main goal of the initiative, by which the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi has essentially returned the issue of Crimea to the international agenda, is the de-occupation of the peninsula and its return to Ukraine. And we are bringing this time closer together,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said in his speech during the meeting.
As a representative of the host country of the upcoming Summit, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Marketa Pekarova Adamova, noted that last year’s Summit proved the importance of such initiatives in supporting Ukraine, its independence and territorial integrity.
“We wanted to jointly show russia that we remain with Ukraine. This is a very important message. It was and is important for European countries and our colleagues from all over the world to show our strength and solidarity with Ukraine. We must do everything we can to bring your victory closer and return all the lands to Ukraine, including Crimea,” said Marketa Pekarova Adamova.
As the representative of the host country of the First Summit, the Chairman of the Croatian National Assembly, Gordan Jandrokovic, reminded that the event was a great success not only for Croatia, but also for Ukraine, as well as for our friends and partners from all countries who support Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and independence.
“Our conference in Zagreb was joined by various states that respect your territorial integrity and sovereignty and condemn russia’s aggression against Ukraine. After all, when we fight for Ukraine, we also fight for European values, democracy and the protection of human rights. Croatia stands with you and you can always count on us,” the Croatian Speaker assured his Ukrainian counterpart.
