The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine presented a state award to the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milos Vystrcil.

The presentation took place during the working visit of the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament to the Czech Republic.

According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, Milos Vystrcil was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, II degree. Today, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament personally presented the award to Mr. Speaker.

“It is a great honour for me to present this award to a respected colleague and a true friend of Ukraine.  This is the highest honour a foreign citizen can receive. And so, presenting this award, I want to express my sincere gratitude from the entire people of Ukraine to the Czech Republic, to you personally, to all members of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic for supporting Ukraine in the fight against the russian aggressor,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed during the presentation.

Ruslan Stefanchuk also thanked the Czech Republic and Milos Vystrcil personally for their consistent support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted that since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Mr. Vystrcil has actively defended a consistent position and taken practical steps to fully support our country at the parliamentary level.

“Thanks to the active leadership of Mr. Speaker, the Senate of the Czech Parliament adopted a number of very important decisions for the Ukrainian Parliament: a resolution condemning the russian invasion of Ukraine, a resolution condemning war crimes committed by the russian army, a joint resolution with the Chamber of Deputies on supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine, etc.”, Ruslan Stefanchuk reminded.

He especially noted the fact that on 14 April, when the troops of the aggressor country were still in close proximity to Kyiv, Milos Vystrcil came to the capital to demonstrate the unwavering support of the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian Parliament.

“Thank you for everything you have done and, I am sure, will do for our great victory, which will be a triumph of justice and civilisation around the world,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

Milos Vystrcil, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, sincerely thanked Ukraine for such a powerful recognition of the partnership and friendship of the Czech Republic.

“I know of no greater reward than to receive an order from heroes. Please tell Ukrainians that we admire your courage and fight. We really appreciate it, because you are fighting for us in this way,” Milos Vystrcil said, adding that this is an award for the entire Czech people who have supported and continue to support Ukraine.

He also emphasised that the Czech Republic and the European community will continue to stand by Ukraine, because only through joint efforts can peace be achieved.

“We will have a chance to be stronger and more courageous, to defeat totalitarian regimes, and to prepare a free and good life for our children and grandchildren. I believe that in the future we will do everything together to ensure that Ukraine defeats russian aggression.  Glory to Ukraine!” Milos Vystrcil said at the end of the meeting.
