The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko chaired a discussion “One year of Ukraine’s resilient democracy in time of war”.

“One year of the resilience of Ukrainian democracy in time of war. It is quite symbolic that on this date representatives of different countries are in Kyiv, the capital of free and unbreakable Ukraine,” the First Vice Speaker emphasized during the event.

At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko expressed gratitude for the assistance and support of our country throughout the year: “The International Coalition and Ukraine will achieve victory and return peace to the world. And we expect this support to continue without losing momentum, but rather accelerating it. After all, time and speed of decision-making play an important role.”

In addition, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that Ukraine is making significant steps and has had successes in the fight against russian aggression – the Ukrainian military has de-occupied part of the territories seized by russia. “At the same time, this war continues. It has been going on for nine years. It will end with our victory and the liberation of all Ukrainian regions to the 1991 borders,” he added.

For her part, the Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mariia Mezentseva noted that Ukraine calls on other countries to immediately recognize russia as a terrorist state, recognizing that this aggression is a violation of human rights that russia has been committing since 2014.

“At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we had an important task not only not to lose our democracy, but also to protect it. This is our exam, which we have been passing with our colleagues over the past year, and we continue to move according to this principle,” Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized in conclusion.

For reference. The meeting was also attended by Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union, and Dmytro Natalukha, the Chair of the Committee on Economic Development.
