With this appeal, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk addressed the U.S. Congressmen, who he met today in the framework of the Munich Security Conference with.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the representatives of the U.S. Congress for the unprecedented support that their country provides to Ukraine to achieve victory in the war with russia and called for its level not to be reduced until our victory.
“The main word that has been heard here most often today is the word “speed”. I urge you to keep up the speed of your support, as well as its power. Because for Ukraine, this is a matter of survival, this is a matter of our future,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized and thanked for the powerful funding already allocated for the needs of Ukraine.
In addition, he noted that the United States is a leading participant in the Ramstein meeting, an important gathering of countries for Ukraine, where the future of global defense support for Ukraine is decided.
He also called on his American colleagues to support Ukraine in its quest for honesty in this unprovoked war.
“Honesty must be in everything. It is very important for us to stop using euphemisms, calling the war a “conflict”. The world must call war a war. Because further international support and the basis of our mutual understanding depend on it, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament said.
According to him, the third crucial area where it is important for Ukraine to have an ally like the United States is to support the peace formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
“It would be important to hold a separate summit in support of this initiative. And here we expect the United States to once again show leadership, in particular in terms of holding and participating in this summit,” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
He also thanked the congressmen for their constant advocacy and activity in strengthening sanctions against the aggressor country and called for a level of sanctions that would be “unbearable pain for russia and force it to end this war.” He also urged his American colleagues to support Ukraine’s initiative in the issue of justice and the price for the brutal war.
“In addition to the victory on the battlefield, which we will certainly get, we must also get two more victories. The first is a legal one, in international institutions. Ukraine and the world must win the dispute against russia, which must be found guilty according to all the canons of international law. The second is that russia must pay for this war. Not the taxpayers of the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom or Canada, but russia, the people of russia and its top political and military leadership. I often call it a “war cheque” that putin should receive,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament noted.
At the end of the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that after our victory, Ukraine and the whole world will have another success story to tell – the story of rebuilding and restoring Ukraine.
“I urge you, dear congressmen, to become a part of this story, to stay with Ukraine and support Ukraine. This is a universal recipe and formula for our common victory,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized.
