During a working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held a working meeting with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Geopolitical Group 12+ Andries Gryffroy.

First of all, Oleksandr Korniienko informed that the Ukrainian delegation is preparing for the next 146th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in March this year in Bahrain.

“The main goal of our delegation is to continue to draw the attention of the countries of the Global South, Africa, Asia and Latin America to our problems, as well as to present the “Peace Formula” of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi within the main program,” said the First Vice Speaker, adding that the Ukrainian delegation also plans to hold a special event on the issue of demining Ukrainian territories at the IPU Spring Assembly. “Our geopolitical group of 12+, which consists of 47 member states: the European Union, Canada, Australia and other countries that support Ukraine and will support us at the Assembly, is coming,” he said.

“The enemy must be fought on all fronts – both on the battlefield and in the international arena. We will continue to fight and will definitely defeat russia both in the Inter-Parliamentary Union and in the world. russia will be a pariah state,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine summarized.

For reference. The Inter-Parliamentary Union is a global organization of national parliaments. What began in 1889 as a small group of parliamentarians dedicated to promoting peace through parliamentary diplomacy and dialogue has now grown into a truly global organization with 178 members and 14 associate members.

The IPU promotes parliamentary diplomacy and empowers parliaments and parliamentarians to promote peace, democracy and sustainable development around the world.
