Dear Members of the Parliament, I am very pleased to join you today. You know, I am pleased to take part in the meeting when you will adopt the most important three laws that need to be adopted to start an important negotiation process, a full-fledged negotiation process for membership in the European Union.
I am very pleased that you are implementing these seven recommendations. In this regard, I would like to thank the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for the fact that you are going through these difficult issues in such a proper way. I am convinced that all your efforts will bear fruit.
We admire the work that concerns the opening of the register of oligarchs of Ukraine, the reform of all agencies involved in the fight against corruption. And we also admire the fact that you have adopted the anti-corruption strategy until 2025.
Today you will again take steps to protect your democracy.
Today you will ensure the freedoms and rights of those people who belong to national minorities in Ukraine. And you will also improve the procedures for selecting judges of the Constitutional Court. I am aware of all the difficulties you face, but consultation and dialogue are vital. Today is another proof that by working together we can bring positive results for Ukrainian citizens. The work you are doing today brings you one step closer to membership in the European Union.
Dear colleagues, I would like to emphasize the critical role of the Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine’s path to European Union membership. I simply admire your efforts to harmonize your legislation with the European Union. I am confident that the European Parliament will continue to help the Ukrainian Parliament to unite with the European community, because the future of Ukraine is a European future. Glory to Ukraine!
