The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk commented on the latest European integration bills adopted at the plenary session on December 13, which are necessary to implement seven recommendations of the European Commission.

He reminded that these recommendations were provided to Ukraine together with the EU candidate status on June 23 this year. Some of them are the responsibility of the Ukrainian Parliament.

«We can say with confidence that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has done its part and adopted all the necessary systemic bills to implement the recommendations of the European Commission, » Ruslan Stefanchuk assured.

He listed all the laws and necessary decisions that Ukraine, as a candidate for accession to the European Union, needed and adopted by the Parliament over the past almost six months since obtaining this status, namely:

1. Reform of the Constitutional Court: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law «On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Improving the Procedure for the Selection of Candidates for the Position of a Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on a Competitive Basis».

2. Harmonization of audio-visual legislation with the European one: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law «On Media» as a whole.

3. Improvement of legislation on national minorities: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law «On National Minorities (Communities)».

4. Fight against money laundering, in particular, the Law «On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Simplification of the Procedure of Information Required for Financial Monitoring»; the Law «On Ratification of the Additional Protocol to the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Terrorism»; the Law «On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine «On Prevention and Counteraction to Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds of Crime, Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction» on protection of the financial system of Ukraine from the state that committed money laundering.

5. Continuation of the judicial reform: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine elected two candidates as members of the High Council of Justice under its quota.
