The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk took part in a meeting of the Presidium of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Seimas and Senate of the Republic of Poland.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament, together with the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Victoria Chmilite-Nielsen and Marshal of the Senate of Poland Tomasz Grodzki, spoke about the Russian armed aggression and solidarity with Ukraine. The event was also attended by the Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs Robert Kelly Menendez.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked his fellow speakers and the Chairman of the U.S. Congressional Committee for the preparation and participation in the Interparliamentary Assembly, which brought together great friends of Ukraine, for their full support and commitment to common values.
“We are very grateful and appreciate your support, because we know how difficult it is today. But we are aware that the principles and values for which Ukrainians today put the most valuable thing they have – their lives and health are worth such support,” Ruslan Stefanchuk said in his opening remarks.
He noted that russia has recently significantly increased the intensity of terrorist missile and air strikes on peaceful cities of Ukraine, on critical energy infrastructure, trying to break our resistance, using frost as a weapon against Ukrainians.
“Therefore, the issue of strengthening the capabilities of our air and missile defense is acute. And I appeal to you with a call for solidarity with Ukraine in this area because solidarity is our effective weapon against the aggressor,” the Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine addressed the heads of parliaments and the U.S. Congressman.
In his turn, Marshal of the Senate of Poland Tomasz Grodzki stressed that Poland had been with Ukraine from the first days of russian aggression and would remain on this basis until our Victory.
“This is aggression against an independent state. It is a slap in the face of civilization, a struggle between barbarians and the free world. Therefore, we have no alternative but to win this war. Lithuania and Poland are doing everything possible to support our friends in Ukraine. And we must win this war together,” the President of the Senate of Poland emphasized.
The Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Victoria Chmilite-Nielsen also supported her colleagues, assuring the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament in further cooperation and support of Ukraine in all spheres necessary for its victory over the aggressor.
The Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs Robert Kelly Menendez, in his turn, assured the audience that the United States will always stand on the side of justice and truth, and therefore on the side of Ukraine.
He stressed that the world should not get tired of this terrible war, because in the modern world there should not be such a thing that one country could conquer another with impunity.
“If this is allowed, the world order will be under threat. Therefore, we must send a clear message to the aggressor that the world will not allow this,” Robert Kelly Menendez emphasized.
Following the meeting, the participants prepared a Resolution for adoption at the XII Session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Seimas and Senate of the Republic of Poland, which will be held tomorrow, December 7.
