The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko held a working meeting with the Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Chung Woo-taik in the framework of the visit of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to the countries of Southeast Asia, namely to Seoul, South Korea.

First of all, the First Vice-Speaker expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea “for the consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the face of russian armed aggression.”
The Ukrainian delegation, which also includes MPs of Ukraine, members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation: the Chairman of the Committee Oleksandr Merezhko and the Member of the Committee Olha Rudenko informed their colleagues about the difficult situation in Ukraine, in particular, due to the recent missile attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, committed by the terrorist state russian federation.

“The war in Ukraine concerns everyone, as well as the world has the consequences of this terrible war. Therefore, it is very important for us when true friends and partners consistently support us, as South Korea does,” Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine needs further support, especially in increasing pressure against the russian federation: “When a country wants to move towards peace, it does not increase the number of attacks, it is illogical. Therefore, we ask all our friends to exert this pressure within their capabilities.”

“We are parliamentarians and we understand that the parliament is the heart of every country, democracy, people. These are those who represent opinions. Therefore, it is very important to conduct inter-parliamentary dialogue and activities,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament stressed, noting that he was pleased with the active development of inter-parliamentary dialogue between Ukrainian parliamentarians and colleagues from the National Assembly.

In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko proposed to hold a joint meeting of the committees of Ukraine and the Republic of Korea dealing with international relations and energy security to exchange information and find through dialogue the best solution to Ukraine’s temporary problems.
“We believe that the parliamentary friendship groups that have long existed in our parliaments are a powerful tool of interaction. I hope our fruitful cooperation will continue in the future,” summed up Oleksandr Korniienko.

For reference. On November 24-26, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko, heading the parliamentary delegation, is on a working visit to Seoul, South Korea. The First Vice Speaker is visiting the Republic of Korea within the framework of the visit of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to the countries of Southeast Asia.
The working visit is aimed at deepening interparliamentary cooperation in the Global South, in particular with the countries of Southeast Asia.
