On the eve of the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-33, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized that for Ukraine the correct interpretation of the tragic events of the early 20th century at the world level is a big step in restoring historical justice.

“As for me, it is one of the greatest tragedies of society, when the Soviet regime deliberately and purposefully eliminated millions of Ukrainians. When Ukrainians were dying of starvation. When artificial famine became a weapon for mass murder,” Ruslan Stefanchuk noted and added that the successor of the Soviet methods of destroying the Ukrainian people today is the terrorist country russia.

“Genocidal sentiments are a historical feature of russians. Today like 90 years ago they seek to destroy us as a nation. Therefore, it is important for Ukraine to restore historical justice,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed.

He reminded that last week the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to the parliaments of the world to recognize the Holodomor of 1932 –1933 as genocide.

“I thank every country, every parliament, every deputy who supported the adoption of the relevant resolutions.

We cannot change history. But we can do everything to ensure that crimes against humanity are not hidden and distorted. We can restore the historical truth. And the world stands with Ukraine in this!” Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.
